Nineteen Legions Receive Provincial Funding

Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations (Oct. 2000 - March 2014)

From roof repairs to window and door replacements, 19 legions will receive upgrades with funding through the province's Legion Capital Assistance Program.

"This provides Nova Scotia veterans and communities with access to better facilities where events, public meetings and community activities take place," said John MacDonell, Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations. "Upgrades to our legions help make life better for veterans and families in every region."

The application-based, $100,000 program provides funding for repairs to legion buildings. Eligible projects include upgrades to on-site wastewater and water systems, bathrooms, kitchens, heating systems and repairs or replacement of windows and roofs.

The program provides up to 50 per cent of eligible costs, to a maximum contribution of $10,000, for approved projects.

The Legion Capital Assistance Program is fully committed this fiscal year.

A complete list of projects that have received funding through the program can be found at www.gov.ns.ca/snsmr/muns/infr/lcap.asp .
