Beaujolais Nouveau Wines Arrive in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation

The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation will offer a selection of Beaujolais Nouveau wines in selected retail stores starting Thursday, Nov. 17.

This year's offering includes Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2011 ($14.99), Mommessin Beaujolais Nouveau 2011 ($15.99) and Pisse Dru Beaujolais Nouveau 2011 ($13.99).

The third Thursday of November is a special day for wine enthusiasts because it is the traditional release day of Beaujolais Nouveau, the first French wine bottled from this year's grape harvest. One of the most anticipated wine releases of the year, Beaujolais Nouveau originates in France's Beaujolais region and for many acts as a barometer for the quality of the vintage as a whole.

"The release of Beaujolais Nouveau is a perfect opportunity to celebrate all that's fun and exciting about wine," said Peter Rockwell, category manager/old world wine for the NSLC. "Reports on this year's vintage have been very positive and it's expected that the wines will offer plenty of fresh, thirst-quenching fruit flavours that will enhance a wide array of food partners."
