Education (July 1999 - March 2013)

The province is investing an additional $500,000 to improve learning opportunities for students in Dartmouth.

Government is working with Halifax Regional School Board to complete renovations and upgrades to Dartmouth High School.

"The province is putting kids and learning first by providing the best learning environment for students to be successful," said Labour and Advanced Education Minister Marilyn More, on behalf of Education Minister Ramona Jennex. "By working with our partners, we will ensure that Dartmouth High School meets the needs of students and the community for many years to come."

The improvements at the school include additional classrooms, a new cafeteria and student common area, student services area, and administration wing. The province is investing $3 million in the project as part of the 2012-13 capital plan. The project is expected to be completed during the 2013-14 school year.

"We are pleased the province has allocated additional funding in the coming year for Dartmouth High," said Carole Olsen, Halifax Regional School Board superintendent. "This investment will allow many of the upgrades to be completed as planned, providing a direct benefit to students and staff."

Dartmouth High School has about 940 students in grades 10 to 12.
