Government to Deliver Budget April 4

Finance (to Oct. 2013)

The Nova Scotia government will deliver the 2013-14 budget Thursday, April 4.

"Budget 2013 is a milestone budget for Nova Scotia," said Finance Minister Maureen MacDonald. "It is the final year of a four-year plan that has put our province on stable financial footing.

"All Nova Scotians shared in the work of getting our finances back on track and I look forward to sharing the details of the upcoming budget on April 4."

Minister MacDonald also acknowledged the hundreds of Nova Scotians who met with her during the pre-budget consultation. Meetings were held between November and February in Wolfville, Kentville, Stellarton, Mahone Bay, Bridgewater, Truro, Sydney and Port Hawkesbury, with stakeholder group meetings taking place in Halifax and Sydney.

"I'd like to thank everyone who took part in this year's pre-budget consultation," said Ms. MacDonald. "Everywhere I went, I heard interesting and important ideas from Nova Scotians that will help shape the upcoming budget. We've listened to Nova Scotians, who said that important public services like health care and education should remain a high priority."
