Nova Scotia Parks Welcome Visitors

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

Nova Scotians and out of province visitors can schedule outdoor summertime fun in provincial camping parks beginning Tuesday, April 2.

"Nova Scotia parks offer breathtaking places for families, and nature enthusiasts to unwind, be active and have fun," said Natural Resources Minister Charlie Parker. "Parks play an important role in the lives of Nova Scotians and that is why people return to these areas year after year."

Nova Scotia's park system includes provincial beach parks, day-use parks, camping parks, and many walking and hiking trails. Sixty-five per cent of Nova Scotians are expected to visit a provincial park this year.

Beginning April 2, visitors can choose sites within camping parks by accessing the reservation system online at www.novascotiaparks.ca or by phone at 1-888-544-3434 between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. Service is available in English and French.

Day-use provincial parks operate from Victoria Day weekend, May 17, until Thanksgiving Day weekend, Oct. 14. Opening dates for camping parks vary by park, with openings in May and June and closings in September and October. Graves Island and North Rissers Park will remain closed for upgrades until June 14.

Reservation fees are $9, with a $7 cancellation fee.

Prior to July 3 no alcohol is permitted in any provincial park.
