Associate Deputy Minister Appointed to Chief Information Office

Executive Council Office

A new associate deputy minister has been appointed to lead the Chief Information Office as it continues to oversee the province's information technology systems and data network.

Sandra Cascadden was appointed to the position after serving as chief health information officer at the department of Health and Wellness since January 2006. Prior to that, Ms. Cascadden was the director of information technology services at the Capital District Health Authority.

"Ms. Cascadden brings a wealth of experience to her new role," said Marilyn More, Minister responsible for the Chief Information Office. "Her leadership will be invaluable as technology continues to change and improve the way government can serve the people of Nova Scotia."

Miriam O'Brien had been serving as acting associate deputy minister following the retirement of Holly Fancy in December 2012.

Ms. Cascadden will begin her new role on Sept. 3.
