Enjoy March Break At Shubenacadie Wildlife Park

March Break will be an exciting time at the Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park.

"During the winter months, animals such as the otters, cougars and eagles are in their enclosures and often more active than during hot summer days, when most people come to visit," said Natural Resources Minister Zach Churchill.

The park will be open for animal viewing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March Break weekdays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the weekends immediately before and after March Break. Admission is $3 for adults, $1.75 for youth (age 6-17), and free for those 5 or younger.

Special child-oriented activities will take place at the park's Ducks Unlimited Canada Greenwing Legacy Centre between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. On March 10, the focus is on reptiles and amphibians, March 11 is trees, March 13 is squirrels and March 14 is insects. Cost is $2 per child.

Children, age 7 to 12, with a keen interest in nature, may want to attend an outdoor adventure day camp between 9:30 and 12:30 a.m. on March 12. Admission is $15 per child.

Night tours of the park during March Break are sold out so another tour is scheduled for March 28, between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Admission is $6, cash only.

To register for the day camp or the night tour, please phone 902-758-5316 or e-mail legacycentre@gov.ns.ca. You must receive a confirmation to attend either of these two events.
