Minister Offers Condolences to Flaherty Family, Friends

Finance and Treasury Board Minister Diana Whalen is sending condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Jim Flaherty, member of Parliament for Whitby-Oshawa and former federal finance minister who passed away today, April 10.

"On behalf of all Nova Scotians, I extend my deepest sympathy to Mr. Flaherty's wife, sons, colleagues and loved ones," said Ms. Whalen. "And, I thank Mr. Flaherty for his many contributions to our country over his lifetime, including guiding the federal government's fiscal policies during a very trying period."

Mr. Flaherty, first elected in 2006, served as finance minister for many years before stepping down last month.
