NEW WORK


CAPE BRETON COUNTY: Long Island Bridge

The Long Island bridge on Grand Narrows Road will be closed for repairs starting Monday, Aug. 18. A detour route is marked on Scotch Bay Road and Route 223. Work will be completed at the end of August.


HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Exit 0 Ramp Closures

The exit and entry ramps on Highway 102 at Exit 0 (Joseph Howe Drive) will be closed to traffic for the next two weekends.

Closures are from 9 p.m., today, Aug. 15, until 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 18, and again from 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, until 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 25.

The closures are for work by Halifax Water.

Trucks should use Northwest Arm Drive and the St. Margarets Bay Road to get to Joseph Howe Drive.


HANTS COUNTY: Route 277

Traffic on sections of Route 277, between Old Trunk Road and Hurshman Road, are reduced to one lane for repaving until Tuesday, Sept. 30.


HANTS COUNTY: Route 236 Traffic on Route 236, between Route 215 and Gosse Bridge, is reduced to one lane to allow for slope repairs. The work is scheduled to be completed Tuesday, Sept. 30.


INVERNESS COUNTY: Highway 4, Port Hawkesbury

Sections of Highway 4, from the Port Hastings rotary at the intersection with Highway 105 east, for about three kilometres, are reduced to one lane for repaving. Traffic control people and pilot vehicles are onsite.

Work is scheduled to be finished by the end of September.


LUNENBURG COUNTY: Cherryfield Bridge Closure

The Cherryfield Bridge, on Cherryfield Road, about half a kilometre north of the intersection with Highway 10, is closed until Friday, Sept. 12.

North River Road can be used as a detour route.


PICTOU COUNTY: Moores Ford Bridge

The Moores Ford Bridge on West Branch Road, between Route 256 and College Grant Road near Tatamagouche, will be closed for repairs from Monday, Aug. 18, until Friday, Sept. 12.

A detour route is marked.


RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 4

Traffic on sections of Highway 4, west for about seven kilometres from east of MacNabs Bridge, are reduced to one lane for bridge repairs and repaving until Monday, Dec. 1.


CONTINUING WORK


ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Highway 101, Bridgetown

Highway 101, Bridgetown, is reduced to one lane at Exit 20 for bridge repairs until Friday, Aug. 29.

Traffic signals are in place.


ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, Lower South River

Traffic on Highway 104 is being detoured for one kilometre onto Dunns Loop until Saturday, Aug. 30. Speed is reduced to 60 km/h through the detour.

Drivers should use extra caution in the area.


CAPE BRETON: Little Bras d'Or

Traffic on Highway 105 (Trans Canada Highway), between Exit 17 and 18 near the Little Bras d'Or bridge, is reduced to one lane from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly until Friday, Sept. 5.


CAPE BRETON: Grand Narrows Road, Georges River

The Grand Narrows Road in Georges River has lane closures for culvert work and ditching. Work is taking place around three kilometres west of Highway 105. Work will end Tuesday, Sept. 30.


CAPE BRETON: Port Morien

Traffic on sections of Route 255, will be reduced to one lane for clearing work. Work will take place over eight kilometres from Homeville to Port Morien, and will end Oct. 31.


CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Sydney River Bridge

The Sydney River Bridge on Keltic Drive is closed for replacement. While the bridge is closed, there is a free shuttle bus service between Coxheath Arena (305 Keltic Dr.) and Walmart (65 Keltic Dr.). A detour route is marked.

COLCHESTER/HANTS COUNTIES: Highway 102, Shubenacadie River

Construction is taking place on Highway 102 at the bridges over Shubenacadie River until September 2015.

A detour bridge is allowing two lanes of traffic in both directions, however, drivers are urged to travel with extra caution in the area.


COLCHESTER COUNTY: Tatamagouche Area

There is brush cutting, ditching, and gravelling on the following roads in the Tatamagouche area:

  • Route 256 (from west of Truro Road to Route 246)
  • Sand Point Road (from Brule Shore Road to end)
  • Brule Shore Road (from Sand Point Road to Brule Point Road)

The work will require lane reductions at various times. Work takes place from dawn to dusk until Monday, Sept. 15.

Please drive with extra caution through work areas and obey signs and flag people.


GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Melford Brook Bridge

The Melford Brook Bridge, on Route 344 at Middle Melford, is closed. A two-lane detour bridge is in place until a permanent bridge is built. The speed limit is reduced to 60 km/h and warning signs are in place.


GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 347

Route 347 has alternating one-lane closures, beginning at the intersection with Trunk 7, then for about six kilometres north toward Aspen. Roadwork includes asphalt patching and repaving. Work will finish Friday, Aug. 22.


GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: South River Lake Road

There will be alternating lane closures on South River Lake Road for road upgrading, including gravelling and paving. Work will take place over seven kilometres, beginning at the intersection with Larrys River Road and moving west. Work will finish Friday, Oct. 17.


HALIFAX COUNTY: Route 354 (Beaver Bank Road)

Sections of Route 354 (Beaver Bank Road), from the Hants County line south for about seven kilometres, are reduced to one lane for repaving.

Traffic is controlled by flag people and a pilot vehicle. The work is scheduled to be finished Tuesday, Sept. 30.


HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102

Sections of the southbound lanes of Highway 102, between Exit 9 and Exit 7, will be reduced to one lane for paving until Sunday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place sunrise to sunset.


HANTS COUNTY: Mines Road, Upper Falmouth

Mines Road, Upper Falmouth, from the end of paving for about two kilometres, is reduced to one lane for gravelling and seal coat until Friday, Aug. 29.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset. Traffic control people are on site.


HANTS COUNTY: Route 202

Route 202, in the West Gore area, has stop-and-go traffic with a pilot vehicle for gravelling and repaving until Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Work takes place from dawn to dusk.


HANTS/COLCHESTER COUNTIES: Stewiacke Road and Monte Vista Road

Stewiacke Road, Colchester Co., from South Branch west for about three kilometres, and Monte Vista, Hants Co., from Renfrew Road to the end, will have alternating lane closures for paving until Sunday. Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.


INVERNESS COUNTY: Crowdis Bridge

Crowdis Bridge is closed until further notice for repairs. A detour is available via Crowdis Cross Road, West Big Interval Road and Hatchery Road.


INVERNESS COUNTY: West Lake Ainslie Road

The Hayes River Bridge on West Lake Ainslie Road has a 15-tonne weight restriction.


KINGS COUNTY: Whitman Bridge

Whitman Bridge, on Whitman Road between Maple Avenue and Ward Road in Aylesford, is closed for repairs until further notice.

The detour route is Maple Avenue, Victoria Road and Ward Road.


LUNENBURG COUNTY: Hirtle Road and Llewellyn Road

Hirtle Road, from Highway 103 toward Route 331, and Llewellyn Road, from Hirtle Road to Highway 103, have alternating lane closures for repaving and upgrading until Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.


LUNENBURG COUNTY: Route 332 Route 332, from Riverport Bridge towards Bridgewater, has alternating lane closures for repaving until Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.


LUNENBURG COUNTY: Varner Bridge

Work has begun on a new bridge beside the existing Varner Bridge on Route 208 near New Germany. The existing bridge will remain open during construction, but there may be occasional, brief closures during normal construction activities. Drivers should use extra caution in the area.

The new, two-lane bridge will be completed in summer 2015.


LUNENBURG COUNTY: Forties Road

Traffic on sections of Forties Road, from the intersection of Fraxville Road to the intersection of Barss Corner Road, is reduced to one lane for repaving. Work is scheduled to be completed at the end of September.

Traffic is controlled by flag people.


PICTOU COUNTY: Alma Road

Alma Road, from Sylvester Road north to Route 376, about four kilometres, is reduced to one lane for patching and repaving until Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.


PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104 The eastbound lanes of Highway 104, from Exit 21 at Westville to Exit 25 at Stellarton, are reduced to one lane for bridge repairs and repaving until Sunday, Aug. 31.

Speed limit in the work zone is 80 km/h.


PICTOU COUNTY: Route 347

Route 347, from the intersection of Garden of Eden Church Loop to the intersection of Woods Road, is reduced to one lane for repaving until Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Delays are expected. Traffic control people and a pilot vehicle are on site. Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.


PICTOU COUNTY: Stewart Road

Stewart Road, from Route 376 west to Durham Road, about five kilometres, is reduced to one lane for patching and repaving until Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.


RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104

Highway 104, east of the Inverness/Richmond County line at the St. Peter's Junction CNR underpass, is reduced to one lane for bridge repairs until Friday, Aug. 29.

Traffic is controlled by temporary traffic signals.


RICHMOND COUNTY: Little Harbour Area

Several roads in the Little Harbour area are reduced to one lane for paving and upgrading until Friday, Aug. 29.

The affected roads are Shore Road, Mombourquette Road, and Little Harbour Road.

Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.


SHELBURNE COUNTY: Sandy Point Road

Sandy Point Road, from Lower Jordan Road southerly for about five kilometres, will have one lane closures for road repairs until Sunday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.


VICTORIA COUNTY: Gillis Bridge

Gillis Bridge on North Branch Road, just past Uisge Ban (USH-AK BAHN) Falls Provincial Park, is closed until further notice. Access to the park is not affected.


YARMOUTH COUNTY: Alders Bridge

Alders Bridge on Saunders Road is closed for repairs until Sunday, Aug. 31.

A detour is available on Haley Road.


YARMOUTH COUNTY: Highway 3

Highway 3, from Willet Road to the Shelburne County line, is reduced to one lane for repairs until Saturday, Aug. 30. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset. Motorists should be prepared to stop and delays are possible.
