"This funding has helped me and two of my key employees to further our professional goals," said Hal Fowler, president, Fowler Construction Services. "We greatly appreciate the opportunity to utilize the available funding to achieve our Gold Seal Certification.

"With upcoming tender requirements surrounding certification, it certainly will allow us access to more work."

Fowler Construction Services is among the 24 businesses in the province which have received funding through the Canada-Nova Scotia Job Grant.

"This investment helps our workers and businesses get the skills and training they need to be more competitive. We're committed to helping our businesses seize opportunities through growing a highly skilled workforce," said Mr. Farrell.

The job grant is delivered through Nova Scotia's Workplace Innovation and Productivity Skills Incentive Program. The funding is provided to companies to encourage investment in skills development and certification. It is also designed to help companies adapt to the introduction of new technology and innovative processes, improve productivity, and strengthen international competitiveness.

"The federal government's top priorities are creating jobs, economic growth and long-term prosperity," said Mr. Armstrong. "It is great to see that Nova Scotia's employers are willing to put skin in the game to ensure they have the right workers with the right skills to help their businesses grow.

"The Canada Job Grant will lead to guaranteed jobs, which is great news for workers and Nova Scotia's economy."
