Motorists are advised to continue to stay off roads tonight and tomorrow morning, Feb. 16, if possible, both for their own safety and so winter plow crews can safely clear roads.

Freezing temperatures and blowing snow have, and will continue to, result in poor road conditions for drivers.

"Throughout the day, our officers have responded to numerous calls from citizens who became stranded on our roadways due to treacherous driving conditions," said Sgt. Alain Leblanc, N.S. RCMP. "If you don't have to travel then please stay off the roads. If you do, please slow down and drive carefully."

"It's essential that we keep roads clear to make sure that police, fire and emergency crews can reach people in need," said Andrew Lathem, executive director of Nova Scotia’s Emergency Management Office. "We urge everyone to check on their neighbours and loved ones to make sure they are safe and secure."
