NSLC Announces First Quarter Results

The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) released its first quarter results today, Aug. 25, for April 1 to June 28, 2015.

Compared with last year, net income was $56.3 million, up $1.3 million while total sales were down $0.9 million to $143.5 million. Total volume of alcohol sold was down 2.3 per cent and overall customer transactions were down 2.1 per cent. However, the average dollar value of each transaction grew by 1.2 per cent.

Nova Scotia wine sales were down slightly 6.5 percent due to limited availability of Nova 7, while all other Nova Scotia product categories experienced growth. Craft beer sales grew 17.4 per cent to $1.7 million, cider sales increased 42.1 per cent, commercial wine sales (those using imported grapes) were up 0.7 per cent, while local spirit sales grew by 338.6 per cent to $0.2 million.
