PREMIER'S OFFICE/COMMUNITIES,CULTURE AND HERITAGE--New Art Bank Purchases on Exhibition
Nova Scotians can now view the Nova Scotia Art Bank's 2015 purchases.
Premier Stephen McNeil and Arts Nova Scotia unveiled the collection Sunday, Oct. 11, at ARTsPLACE Gallery, in Annapolis Royal. The exhibition will be on view until Nov. 22.
Thirty-one new works from visual arts and fine craft, created by 20 artists, were introduced.
"For 40 years, Nova Scotia has been acquiring and displaying works by its contemporary visual artists," said Premier McNeil. "The art bank ensures that this part of our province's culture is celebrated and enhanced for future generations."
The artists, with hometowns, are:

- Kyle Jackson, Halifax
- Matthew Collins, Milton, Queens Co.
- Melanie Colosimo, Halifax
- Paul Hannon, Halifax
- Steven Peters, Halifax
- Susan Malmstrom and Brandt Eisner, Halifax

"Arts Nova Scotia is committed to supporting the important work of Nova Scotian artists," said Mary Elizabeth Luka, chair, Arts Nova Scotia. "We are happy to be here today to celebrate their significant achievement and recognize their contributions to the community."
The Nova Scotia Art Bank has supported local artists for 40 years. Since 1975, works have been added annually, based on recommendations from a jury of artists. The collection has more than 1,800 pieces of art showcased in prominent areas and public spaces of government offices throughout the province.
Applications for the 2015-16 Art Bank Purchase Program will be accepted until Jan. 15.
