Cape Split Upgrades Need Trail Closures

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

The province is upgrading the hiking trail at Cape Split Provincial Park.

The Department of Natural Resources is installing a composting toilet along the trail and will re-align small sections of the trail for better drainage.

"Government is making sure this very popular trail is enhanced to better serve local and visiting hikers who come to enjoy the wonderful Cape Split experience," said Geoff MacLellan, acting Minister of Natural Resources. "I encourage people to continue to enjoy the trail on weekends, but be aware of the temporary weekday closure."

While the work is carried out, the trail will be closed on weekdays, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 14, but will stay open on weekends. A sign is posted at the trail to notify hikers.

As well, the parking lot for the trail will be closed Wednesday and Thursday this week and reopen Friday morning.

The work is expected to take a few weeks.
