Convenience Store Online Bundle Launched

Government launched its second bundle of online services today, Oct. 21. The bundle makes it easier for convenience store operators to start or grow their businesses in Nova Scotia.

The Convenience Store Bundle will reduce the time business people spend accessing government information and completing transactions. This is the second online bundle to be launched this year, with more bundles for other industry sectors coming soon.

"Time is valuable in the convenience store sector, and we want Nova Scotia to have the most competitive and business-friendly environment," said Service Nova Scotia Minister Mark Furey.

"Government is taking a sector-by-sector approach online so that business owners can spend less time searching for forms and information and more time focusing on making their businesses successful.

"It is fitting that we are launching the new bundle during Small Business Week because online services are a way that government is cutting red tape for small businesses to thrive."

Similar to the Restaurant and Accommodations Bundle launched in July, convenience store owners can use the new bundle to find the information, services and forms for their business needs in one place.

The bundle includes tools to help operators identify what requirements apply to their business and in what order. Business operators can create a customized list of tasks for their specific needs, such as reserving a business name, applying for permits and exploring funding opportunities.

"We commend the government for listening to our concerns and for consulting with us to build the online convenience store bundle,” said Mike Hammoud, president of the Atlantic Convenience Stores Association. "This is a very good first step, with positive action. The on-line bundle will make it easier and faster for convenience store businesses to quickly source the information that they need, so they have more time to run their businesses."
