Public Sector Promoting Small Business Growth Opportunities

Government is helping entrepreneurs and businesses find opportunities to sell goods and services to the public sector.

The annual Reverse Trade Show, hosted by government, will take place Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Pier 21, 1209 Marginal Rd., Halifax.

Businesses can meet with buyers from the provincial, municipal and federal governments, health authority and post-secondary institutions.

"Every business in Nova Scotia has the potential to sell to the public sector," said Labi Kousoulis, Minister of Internal Services. "I encourage those looking to network with other businesses or find out what opportunities are there to do business with government to attend our trade show."

Government spends more than $800 million each year buying goods and services like medical supplies, heavy equipment, construction, and maintenance work. About 80 per cent went to Nova Scotia-based suppliers.

The trade show is a partnership among the provincial government, Halifax Partnership, the Construction Association of Nova Scotia and the federal Office of Small and Medium Enterprises.
