Winter Parking Ban Begins Tuesday, Dec. 15

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

The province's winter parking ban takes effect Tuesday, Dec. 15, in many communities throughout Nova Scotia.

There is no parking on roads maintained by the department between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Drivers are also restricted from parking vehicles on highways and streets from one hour after a snowstorm begins to two hours after it has stopped.

With each weather event, crews are responsible for maintaining approximately 23,000 kilometres of provincially serviced roads and streets. The parking ban will help ensure that roads are properly cleared and safe for travel.

Towns and municipalities may have their own parking restrictions.

The winter parking ban will be in effect until March 31, 2016.
