Crown Attorney Appointed in Digby

Public Prosecution Service

David Curry has been appointed a Crown attorney in Digby.

Martin Herschorn, director of public prosecutions, announced the appointment today, July 7.

“Mr. Curry’s experience and background make him a valuable asset to the public prosecution service,” said Mr. Herschorn.

Mr. Curry is a member of both the African Nova Scotian community in Lequille and the L’sitkuk (Bear River) First Nations community. He studied sociology and social anthropology at Dalhousie University before graduating from Dalhousie Law School in 2009.

He articled with Nova Scotia Legal Aid in Dartmouth and, in 2011, was appointed a staff lawyer with Legal Aid Ontario in Stratford. In 2012 Mr. Curry joined the Yarmouth office of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission.

While at Dalhousie, Mr. Curry was the 2008 recipient of the Judge Corrine Sparks Award in law for using legal education as a tool for change in the community. He is a past chair of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Equity and Racial Diversity Committee.
