NSLC Announces Second Quarter Results
The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) released its second quarter results today, Oct. 24, for July 3 to Oct. 1, 2017.
Compared to the same period last year, net income was $70.9 million, up $500,000, while total sales were up by $4 million to $176.8 million. The total volume of alcohol sold was up 2.1 per cent and overall customer transactions were down 0.2 per cent. The average dollar value of each transaction increased by 2.4 per cent.
Big gainers were local spirit sales, up by 85.2 per cent to $1.6 million and Nova Scotia craft beer sales, up 49.5 per cent to $3.9 million. Nova Scotia wine sales, using locally grown grapes, grew by 11.9 per cent to $3.5 million, while sales for Nova Scotia commercial wine, produced here with imported grapes, were up two per cent to $6 million. Ready-to-drink products, mostly ciders made with local apples, increased by 46.4 per cent, to $1.4 million.
