Acadian Affairs and Francophonie Advisory Committee Announced

Minister of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie, Lena Metlege Diab, announced today, Nov. 1, the creation of the Advisory Committee to the Minister of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie.

The committee will provide the minister with advice and information on issues that are important to Nova Scotia’s Acadian and Francophone community.

“I am pleased with the establishment of this advisory committee and look forward to working collaboratively with its members to advance both government’s priorities and the priorities of Nova Scotia’s Acadian and Francophone communities,” said Ms. Diab. “This committee is an important step which signals government’s commitment to better understand the community’s priorities, and ensure these priorities are reflected in our programs, services and policies.”

The advisory committee six members are:
--Ghislain Boudreau, president, Fédération acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse, Wedgeport, Yarmouth County
--Norbert LeBlanc, president, Conseil acadien de Par-en-Bas, Argyle, Yarmouth County
--Clermont Charland, president, Centre communautaire Étoile de l’Acadie, Sydney
--Karolyn Aucoin, executive director, CIFA community radio, Clare, Digby County
--Jeanne-Françoise Caillaud, executive director, Réseau Santé Nouvelle-Écosse, Halifax
--Alfred-Arthur Poirier, deputy warden, Municipality of Inverness, Chéticamp.

"This committee responds to a wish expressed by the Fédération acadienne and its member organizations to facilitate the link between the community and the government,” said Mr. Boudreau. “The Fédération acadienne is pleased to have the opportunity to work even more closely with the minister of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie."

Sydney, Karolyn Aucoin, of Clare, Jeanne-Françoise Caillaud, of

Halifax, and Alfred-Arthur Poirier of Chéticamp.

     Ms. Diab says establishment of the committee signals

government’s commitment to better understand the priorities of

Nova Scotia’s Acadian and Francophone communities.
