New Appointments to IWK Health Centre Board

Health and Wellness Minister Randy Delorey has appointed two new boards members to the IWK Health Centre board of directors.

“We are very pleased to be appointing Cheryl Stewart-Walsh and Robbie Shaw to the board of directors for the IWK Health Centre,” said Mr. Delorey. “Both are recognized community and industry leaders who will bring significant knowledge and expertise to the board.”

Ms. Stewart-Walsh is the former associate vice-president of University Advancement at Mount Saint Vincent University and the co-founder and past president of FUSION Halifax. Ms. Stewart-Walsh has several years’ experience in executive leadership, politics, economic development, entrepreneurship and post-secondary education. She was part of the Mayor’s Economic Advisory Committee in Halifax Regional Municipality and is now serving on the Advisory Council on the Status of Women.

Mr. Shaw is the chair of the board of Dynagen Technologies Inc. Mr. Shaw has a long-standing history with the hospital. He served as a past member of the board of governors and as president and CEO of the IWK Health Centre Foundation between 2006 and 2011. He also served as a director of the Dalhousie University Medical Research Foundation.

The standing committee on human resources approved the appointments today, March 27 and they will be finalized shortly, with an effective start date of April 1. All candidates were screened through the approved provincial board appointment process.
