Premier Announces Staffing Changes

Premier's Office

Premier Stephen McNeil today, Jan. 9, announced the appointment of Laurie Graham as chief of staff in his office.

Ms. Graham has served as principal secretary to the premier since March 2016, working to help deliver the government’s agenda. She will continue that work along with managing the premier’s office.

The premier also announced the appointment of Heather Chiasson as director of operations. Ms. Chiasson is a Halifax native who currently serves as director of appointments to federal Minister of Transport Marc Garneau. She has 35 years of experience in federal, provincial and municipal politics and has held a number of senior roles in various political offices.

“I am very pleased to welcome Heather to our office. Her background and her deep connection to Nova Scotia make her an ideal fit for our team and I look forward to working with her,” said Premier McNeil. “Laurie has been doing an excellent job of balancing the challenges of delivering on our promises to Nova Scotians and empowering the team and it’s a natural fit for her to take on this role.”
