New President and CEO of Housing Nova Scotia

Nancy MacLellan has been appointed president and CEO of Housing Nova Scotia.

Premier Stephen McNeil announced the appointment today, Jan. 25. Dan McDougall is leaving the position to become chief administrative officer of the Municipality of Chester.

Ms. MacLellan has been the associate deputy minister of Community Services for the past five years, and has held senior positions at Service Nova Scotia, Department of Justice and the Department of Finance and Treasury Board.

“There are many challenges and opportunities in the housing sector and a great deal of work to be done with partners on the National Housing Strategy,” said Premier McNeil. “Nancy’s experience gives her a good understanding of what safe and affordable housing means to all Nova Scotians.

“I want to thank Dan for his contribution to the province. He is a valued public servant and I’m happy to know that service will continue in Chester.”

Ms. MacLellan’s appointment is effective immediately. The associate deputy minister position at Community Services will be filled in the weeks to come.
