Homicide Case Added to Rewards Program

Halifax Regional Police and the provincial government are adding the homicide of Ryan Nehiley to the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.

The program offers a reward of up to $150,000 to anyone who shares information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crime.

“The family has suffered a terrible loss and they deserve closure,” said Justice Minister Mark Furey. “I join police in asking anyone with information to please come forward if you know something about this crime.”

On Nov. 23, 2018, police responded to a weapons call on Clovis Avenue in Halifax. Officers determined that 25-year-old Ryan Nehiley had been shot. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators believe that Mr. Nehiley was shot inside his residence and that more than one person was involved in the offence.

Anyone with information that could result in an arrest and possible charges should call the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program at 1-888-710-9090.

Those who come forward with information must provide their name and contact information. They may be called to testify in court. All calls will be recorded.

The Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program launched in October 2006 as an additional tool to help police gather information on unsolved crimes. Since its inception, two full rewards of $150,000 and one partial reward of $100,000 have been paid out by the program.
