Call for Nominations for Council of the Federation Literacy Award

Nova Scotians are encouraged to recognize outstanding contributions to literacy and learning by nominating someone for the Council of the Federation Literacy Award.

“Literacy has the power to change lives,” said Premier Stephen McNeil. “I greatly respect those who are working hard to improve their literacy for themselves and their families. These new skills build confidence and open doors to more of the education and employment opportunities our province has to offer.”

This national award recognizes and celebrates outstanding achievement, innovative practice and excellence in literacy.

Each year, Canada's premiers present an adult learner in each province and territory with an award for learning and leadership progress in their community, workplace or school. The award also recognizes the role literacy plays in the social and economic health of Canadians.

The winner is selected by a review committee. Premier Stephen McNeil will present the winner with a medallion and a certificate of merit at a ceremony in the fall.

Nomination forms are available at https://novascotia.ca/lae/cof-literacy-award.asp or by calling, toll free, 1-877-goNSSAL (466-7725). The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 17.
