Celebrating Excellence in Inclusive Education

Education and Early Childhood Development

This year’s Provincial Education Week honours teachers, administrators, early childhood educators, school support staff and education partners in the area of inclusive education.

Recipients from across the province were recognized at a ceremony in Dartmouth today, April 15.

“Together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of our students and children,” said Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development Zach Churchill. “Today’s honorees are leading the way and helping the next generation of Nova Scotians be successful.

“Providing inclusive supports to students is one of our top priorities. We look forward to the continued collaboration with our regional centres for education, Conseil scolaire acadien provincial and education partners to ensure all students and children succeed.”

Sixty-four recipients were recognized for going above and beyond to provide inclusive supports to students and children, make them feel welcomed, appropriately challenged and supported.

“It is tremendous to see how educators in our quickly changing modern day and age push forward to adapt their teaching styles to foster individual approaches to education,” said Lt.-Gov Arthur J. LeBlanc. “By focusing on students’ individual needs, strengths and abilities, educators create an environment throughout Nova Scotia that lays the foundation for success in our future generation.”

Education Week runs from April 14 to 20 and is supported by partners in education including the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the Nova Scotia Teachers Union, the Nova Scotia Federation of Home and School Associations, the Public School Administrators Association of Nova Scotia, la Fédération des parents acadiens de la Nouvelle-Écosse, the Council on African Canadian Education, and the Council on Mi’kmaq Education.
