2013 Homicide Case Added to Rewards Program

Halifax Regional Police and the province are adding the 2013 homicide of Raymond Floyd Peters to the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.

On Jan. 7, 2013, Halifax Regional Police responded to reports of a shooting in North Dartmouth. Officers located the 24-year-old victim suffering from gunshot wounds in a Jackson Road apartment. Mr. Peters was transported to hospital by ambulance, where he passed away the following day. The medical examiner determined the cause of death was a homicide.

The program offers a reward up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crime. Individuals who come forward with information must provide their name and contact information. They may be called to testify in court. All calls will be recorded. The Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program launched in October 2006 as an additional tool to help police gather information on unsolved crimes. Since its inception, two full rewards of $150,000 and one partial reward of $100,000 have been paid out by the program.
