Government Supports Hants County Exhibition Facility Upgrades

Communities, Culture and Heritage (Jan. 2011 - Aug. 2021)

The province is investing $50,000 in facility upgrades ahead of the annual Hants County Exhibition.

The one-time funding to the Windsor Agricultural Society will be used to replace two sprinkler systems in the Industrial Building on the exhibition grounds.

“The Hants County Exhibition is a long-standing tradition in the community, supports local jobs and attracts visitors to the region and Nova Scotia,” said Chuck Porter, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing on behalf of Leo Glavine, Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage. “This investment will ensure full use of the main building during this important event.”

The building is the main admission gate for the exhibition and includes booths for non-profit groups, vendors and displays, including 4-H projects.

“This funding is very important to the continued growth and improvement of the oldest agriculture fair in North America. It shows our government's continued support of local agriculture and its importance to the Nova Scotia economy," said Ryan Knowles, president of the Windsor Agricultural Society.

The Hants County Exhibition is recognized as the oldest agricultural fair in North America with the 254th Exhibition taking place this September in Windsor.
