Provincial Parks Closed Due to Hurricane Dorian

Lands and Forestry (July 2018 - Aug. 2021)

All provincial campgrounds, beaches and day-use parks, and the Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park, will close at dusk on Friday, Sept. 6, because of severe weather conditions expected from Hurricane Dorian.

Full refunds will be given for reservations affected by the closure. All campers with reservations will be contacted by the park reservation agency to arrange refunds. Campers may consider rebooking a campsite for another day.

The provincial wildlife park will be closed Saturday but will reopen Sunday at 9 a.m. if safe to do so.

Provincial parks will be evaluated for damage and safety concerns before they are re-opened. Some parks may open as early as Monday, Sept. 9 at noon. Public notice of park openings will be provided online at https://parks.novascotia.ca and through media and social media updates.

"We are preparing for significant storm conditions Saturday and Sunday. Our priority is the safety of visitors and staff at all provincial park properties this weekend,” said Lands and Forestry Minister Iain Rankin.
