Provincial government employees are diving in and giving back to their communities as they kick off their annual workplace fundraising campaign for United Way with two harbour swims.

Taking place today, Sept. 18, more than 70 swimmers will participate in the Halifax Harbour swim including participants from the provincial government, employees from the Department of National Defence and citizens. Twelve swimmers will cross Chester Harbour the following day.

“This year marks our ninth harbour swim, which has become a great tradition to kick off our workplace giving campaign,” said Karen Hudson, deputy minister of Justice and this year’s campaign host. “I’m pleased to see participants from municipal and federal governments and private citizens also supporting a wonderful cause.”

This year’s goal is to raise over $500,000 for United Way organizations across Nova Scotia.
