Legislature Resumes Sitting

Premier's Office

Government enters the fall sitting of the legislature ready to advance the interests of Nova Scotians with respect to the environment, economy, support for women and health care.

The first of several pieces of environmental legislation was introduced today, Sept. 26, with a bill to ban single-use plastic bags at retail checkouts.

The Plastic Bags Reduction Act was introduced as the second session of the 63rd general assembly resumed today.

Other bills on the government’s legislative agenda, which is subject to change, include:

  • modernizing the Environmental Goals and Sustainable Prosperity Act
  • supporting tidal power developers in adding clean energy to the grid
  • continuing red tape reduction to support small businesses and save them money
