Students Receive Energy Scholarships and Innovation Grants

Energy and Mines (July 2018 - Aug. 2021)

Twenty Nova Scotia students have earned the Pengrowth-Nova Scotia Energy Scholarship or the Energy Innovation Grant which support their pursuit of energy-related studies at post-secondary institutions.

“Nova Scotia is a North American leader in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and many young people want to be a part of the solutions that help us continue to reach our climate change goals,” said Energy and Mines Minister Derek Mombourquette. “By supporting students today, we are ensuring we have leaders tomorrow that will guide us toward a cleaner energy future.”

Eight young Nova Scotians enrolled in university programs will receive a renewable scholarship of $2,500 per year for four years. Eight other students enrolled in trades and technology programs at the Nova Scotia Community College will receive a one-time scholarship of $2,500.

Four masters-level students have earned a $7,500 grant to support their research in the energy sector.
