Nova Scotia Celebrates Cadet Day
Cadet Day, Saturday, Oct. 5, is an opportunity to recognize the positive impact the cadet program has in shaping Nova Scotia youth and in shaping well-rounded, community-minded future leaders.
A flag will be raised at Province House in Halifax to celebrate the day and the achievements of youth and success of the program in promoting a lifetime of physical fitness, volunteerism and citizenship activities.
“The cadet program offers young people an opportunity to come together and participate in a variety of challenging and fun activities that build skills they’ll use the rest of their lives,” said Premier Stephen McNeil, Minister for Military Relations and Minister responsible for Youth. “We are proud to see cadets being active in their communities and making positive contributions right across our province.”
There are 85 cadet units in Nova Scotia and more than 3,000 youth between the ages of 12-18 are enrolled.
