Conflict of Interest Commissioner Appointed

Government has appointed former Chief Justice Joseph Kennedy as the province’s conflict of interest commissioner.
The commissioner’s role is to provide advice and recommendations on possible conflicts of interest involving provincially elected officials and public servants.
Mr. Kennedy’s appointment is effective Nov. 12.
He has been acting commissioner since July 31, 2018 and brings over 40 years of experience and expertise to the position.

- Mr. Kennedy was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 1969
- he retired as chief justice of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court on April 30, 2019. He previously served as judge, associate chief judge and chief judge of the provincial court, and as justice and associate chief justice of the Supreme Court
