Nominations Now Open for the 46th Provincial Volunteer Awards

Communities, Culture and Heritage (Jan. 2011 - Aug. 2021)

Nova Scotians who know an outstanding volunteer who deserves recognition, can now nominate them for a Provincial Volunteer Award.

Every year, to mark National Volunteer Week, the Province of Nova Scotia celebrates volunteers nominated by organizations and communities at the Provincial Volunteer Awards.

“The annual Provincial Volunteer Awards is our way of saying thank you to the many exceptional volunteers who touch the lives of Nova Scotians in so many ways and contribute to the well-being and vitality of our communities every day,” said Leo Glavine, Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage. “Their commitment to their fellow Nova Scotians is part of what makes this province a wonderful place to live and proves that we look out for one another.”

The awards recognize individuals and youth who are driving positive change and inspiring others in their communities. They also recognize families who work together to make a difference, like the Little family from Yarmouth. They received the Family Award last year for collectively contributing over 40 years of volunteer service to the community in just 11 years.

To nominate an individual or a family in their community for a Provincial Volunteer Award, Nova Scotians are encouraged to contact their Municipal or Band Office representative.

Quick Facts:

  • nominations close Feb. 25
  • the award categories are: Representative Volunteer Award, Youth Volunteer Award and Family Volunteer Award
  • National Volunteer Week 2020 runs from April 19 to 25
