Funding Announced for Kings Transit

Communities, Culture and Heritage (Jan. 2011 - Aug. 2021)

The province is investing $175,000 to assist Kings Transit with upgrades to its aging fleet.

“Passengers rely on the high level of service Kings Transit offers throughout the Annapolis Valley,” said Leo Glavine, Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage. “Access to transportation is vital for connecting communities and people of all ages and abilities to employment opportunities, important health services, education and so much more.”

Kings Transit buses are all fully accessible. The service operates from the Hants County border through Kings, Annapolis and Digby counties to Weymouth.

Quick Facts:

  • the $175,000 provincial investment is through the Strategic Community Transportation Investment Program
  • government invests millions every year to help service providers maintain or expand public transit. Recent examples include, $200,000 to launch a new service in Stellarton and New Glasgow, $1.5 million for new buses and a bus shelter in Cape Breton Regional Municipality, $350,000 for a new bus in Bridgewater and $3 million through the Public Transit Assistance Program to seven transit providers to help them buy buses, bus terminals and shelters
  • improving access to community transportation is a cornerstone of government’s Poverty Reduction Blueprint, Community Transportation Action Plan and is identified as a priority in SHIFT – Nova Scotia’s Action Plan for an Aging Population
