Public Service Participates in Canada’s Largest Virtual Career Fair

Government will showcase its public service careers at Canada’s largest virtual career fair on Oct. 6 and 7. The virtual fair is expected to attract up to 20,000 job seekers.

Participants will learn about opportunities available with the Government of Nova Scotia, how to apply, and can interact with recruiters via live chat throughout the entire event.

“We are always looking for new ways to encourage people to choose public service as a career,” said Public Service Commission Minister Tony Ince. “This year we had to get creative with our outreach and a virtual forum gives us the chance to connect with people nationally and internationally.”

Government has been focused on attracting and retaining younger workers, as well as equity-seeking candidates and underrepresented groups to diversify its public service.

Quick Facts:

• the province will host two interactive live webinars: A Workforce Attraction Webinar on Oct. 6 from 11 to noon and an immigration webinar on Oct. 7 from 1 to 2 p.m.
• the Province of Nova Scotia has more than 11,700 employees
• entry-level positions for younger workers and people with less experience are posted throughout the year
• since 2015, the province has helped younger workers secure entry-level positions by removing barriers like unnecessary experience requirements in job postings
