Public Prosecution Service

Aileen McGinty, Crown attorney with the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service, was recently elected vice chair of the Canadian Mental Health Association’s national board of directors.

Ms. McGinty is currently the designated Crown attorney with the Dartmouth wellness court.

“We are proud to recognize Aileen’s recent vice chair appointment and continued dedication to community volunteerism,” said Martin Herschorn, director of Public Prosecutions. “This achievement speaks to her commitment and passion for mental health, which is brought forward in her service to Nova Scotia as a prosecutor.”

Ms. McGinty has volunteered with the association for more than eight years. She previously served on the association’s Nova Scotia board of directors, and as a director of the national board. She was elected to her current position by members of the national board during the annual general meeting last month. She will work with the board to promote the importance of mental health to Canadians.

Ms. McGinty is also a part-time instructor at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, department of criminology, and a board member of the Nova Scotia Criminal Justice Society.
