Premier Thanks Business Minister Geoff MacLellan for Years of Service

Premier Stephen McNeil thanked Business Minister Geoff MacLellan for his years of service after Mr. MacLellan announced today, Feb. 4, that he will not reoffer in the next provincial election.

“I want to thank Mr. MacLellan for the contributions he has made to our province,” said Premier McNeil. “He has been a key member of cabinet since our government was elected in 2013, holding important portfolios in transportation, energy, business, tourism and trade that have driven economic development in our province.”

Mr. MacLellan is currently the Minister of Business and Minister of Trade and is the minister responsible for Nova Scotia Business Inc., Tourism Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Innovation Corporation. He is also the government House leader. He was first appointed to the Executive Council in 2013 and has served previously in the energy, transportation and Service Nova Scotia portfolios.

He has been the MLA for Glace Bay since 2010.

“It has been a privilege to serve the people of Glace Bay for more than a decade,” said Mr. MacLellan. “I am also proud to have served in a government that has invested in the priorities of Nova Scotians while getting the province’s finances back in order. I thank my colleagues and constituents for their support over the last 11 years.”
