Lieutenant-Governor Invites Iain Rankin to Form a New Government

Yesterday, Feb. 8, Lt.-Gov. Arthur J. LeBlanc received Premier Stephen McNeil, who submitted his resignation.

Today, Feb. 9, Lt.-Gov. LeBlanc received Iain Rankin, newly elected leader of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party, whom he invited to form a new government. Mr. Rankin accepted, and now becomes the premier-designate.

Premier McNeil and cabinet members remain in office until the lieutenant-governor swears in the premier-designate and new ministers.
