New Water Tower for Lunenburg County

Municipal Affairs (Feb. - Aug. 2021)

The Nova Scotia government is investing almost $1 million in the construction of a new gravity-fed water storage tank in Osprey Village, Lunenburg County.

The province is partnering with the federal government, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg and the Town of Bridgewater on the project, which will improve access to drinking water and provide better water flow for firefighting. The new tank will be connected to the existing system and help meet long-term water needs.

“The provincial government has a mandate to support municipalities to ensure we have healthy, safe and vibrant communities,” said Lunenburg West MLA Mark Furey, on behalf of Municipal Affairs Minister Brendan Maguire. “This investment will help meet long-term development and water demands for Osprey Village and surrounding areas.”

The federal contribution is more than $1.1 million, and each municipality is investing more than $380,000. The project is funded through the Green Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan.
