School Capital Improvements for Mabou

Education and Early Childhood Development

A provincial investment in school capital projects in Mabou will improve safety and accessibility, making an important community hub more welcoming and inclusive.

Premier Iain Rankin announced $454,000 in funding today, June 18, for paving projects at Dalbrae Academy and the Strait Regional Centre for Education’s bus maintenance facility.

“Dalbrae Academy and the connected community facilities are important gathering places for residents and visitors,” said Premier Rankin. “This investment will make this site safer and more accessible for all those who use it, while also creating economic activity and jobs for the local economy.”

Dalbrae Academy has had a partially paved parking lot that is used by the school, as well as visitors to community facilities located in the school.

“We want our schools to be welcoming places for students, staff and everyone else who uses these important community hubs,” said Derek Mombourquette, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. “By improving accessibility, we are making our schools more inclusive spaces.”

The total costs of the paving projects at Dalbrae Academy and the regional centre for education’s bus maintenance facility are $400,000 and $175,000, respectively. Both projects were completed over two years, with $121,000 in funding last year and $454,000 announced today.

This paving project has certainly improved the safety and accessibility of our school parking lot for all who use it and has enhanced our school property. Thank you to all partners involved in making it a reality.”
