Applications Open for Antlerless Deer Draw
Starting at noon today, July 4, hunters can apply for one of 4,785 antlerless deer hunting stamps for the 2022 hunting season.
Stamps are available for zones 103, 104, 106, 108 and 110 in mainland Nova Scotia and zones 111 and 112 in Cape Breton. Antlerless deer stamps aren’t needed for zones 101, 102, 105, 107 or 109 because these zones are open to harvesting deer of either sex.
To be eligible, a hunter must be a resident of Nova Scotia, be eligible for a deer hunting licence, have a valid Nova Scotia Wildlife Resources Card and be at least 16 years old by the end of the deer hunting season on December 10.
Applications can be made online with a debit or credit card. The application fee is $9.25 (including HST). Applications can also be made by phone and require a credit card.
The application and additional information, including a detailed map of deer management zones, are available at: https://wrs.novascotia.ca/DeerDraw/
The deadline to enter the draw is noon on Friday, July 22. Results will be posted online Monday, August 15.
Quick Facts:
- an antlerless deer hunting stamp permits a hunter to harvest an antlerless deer in a specific deer management zone
- an antlerless stamp does not increase the bag limit for the applicable season; the bag limit is one deer
- an antlerless deer stamp must be accompanied by a general deer stamp, which is available for purchase
- both types of stamps become valid when applied to a hunting licence with a wildlife habitat stamp
