Nova Scotia to Host Job Fair for Newcomers

Newcomers to Nova Scotia are invited to participate in a job fair Wednesday, July 20, at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 in Halifax.

The free one-stop job fair will connect newcomers to the jobs, communities and settlement services they need to build a life in Nova Scotia.

“Connecting newcomers to the workforce is vital to their success in Nova Scotia, and we want them to explore the many opportunities that exist here in the province,” said Jill Balser, Minister of Labour, Skills and Immigration. “It is our hope that job-ready newcomers will secure employment, create community connections and make Nova Scotia their permanent home to lay down roots, study, work and thrive.”

The job fair will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. with exhibits from about 40 employers from different regions and industries in Nova Scotia. Representatives from the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration, Nova Scotia Works, Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia, YMCA, Ukrainian Canadian Congress and the Department of Community Services will also be there with information on services and supports and how to access them.
