Minister’s Labour Day Message

Labour, Skills and Immigration

NOTE: The following is a message from Jill Balser, Minister of Labour, Skills and Immigration.

As we mark Labour Day 2022, I want to recognize and celebrate the efforts, commitment and dedication of hard-working Nova Scotians, employers and the unions and associations that represent them.

As Minister of the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration, it is my great privilege to celebrate your hard work this past year. I hope you will be able to enjoy the holiday and take this time to connect with family and friends.

With long summer days giving way to the cooling days of autumn, some Nova Scotians may be considering new career opportunities. Perhaps you are hoping to retool, retrain or re-enter the workforce. Nova Scotia Works (https://novascotiaworks.ca/nsdc/) is a great place to start, with free online and in-person assistance that can help you explore in-demand fields.

Meaningful employment opportunities for all Nova Scotians will continue to make our province a great place to study, live, work and thrive. When we work together, we help make Nova Scotia’s workplaces safe, inclusive and productive, contributing to a stronger economy and a growing province.

As we look forward to the year ahead, our government is committed to attracting the people we need to grow our communities, strengthen the workforce and create even more opportunities right here at home.

I wish all Nova Scotians a safe and happy Labour Day weekend.
