NATURAL RESOURCES--Habitat Conservation Projects Approved
Thirteen wildlife conservation projects are approved for funding under the Habitat Conservation Fund, Natural Resources Minister Richard Hurlburt announced today, June 22. The money for the fund is generated through the required purchase of a $2 wildlife habitat stamp on all hunting licenses in Nova Scotia.

HEALTH--Nova Scotia Prepares For West Nile Virus Season
As many Nova Scotians look forward to summer vacations, Department of Natural Resources (DNR) staff are preparing to spend another season collecting and testing mosquitoes and dead birds for West Nile virus. While some bird testing has already taken place, DNR will begin actively collecting reported dead birds beginning on Monday, June 21.

Fire season officially began in some parts of the province on April 1 and in the remaining areas on April 15. The season will end Oct. 15. As a result, provincial permits for burning brush are now required.
