Natural Resources Minister Kennie MacAskill has reintroduced amendments to the Forests Act that will help to ensure that sustainable forestry is practised on both crown and private woodlands in Nova Scotia. The legislation was originally introduced in the House of Assembly last December.

Coal Exploration Licence - Little Pond

Natural Resources Minister Kennie MacAskill said an exploration licence for possible development of a surface coal mine near Little Pond in the Sydney coalfield will be issued to Brogan Mining Company Limited of Sydney Mines. It will be a three-year renewable license.
