Hunting Season Set to Begin

The cooler days and nights of fall bring a lot of activity outdoors as hunters take to the woods in anticipation of a successful and safe hunting season. Natural Resources Minister Tim Olive stresses the importance of hunters obtaining the proper training, permits and licences required to take part in the different hunting seasons in Nova Scotia.

Attempted Moose Poaching

The Department of Natural Resources' Shelburne District Office responded to a report of an injured moose in Canada Hill, Shelburne Co., on Monday, Sept. 16. The moose had to be destroyed because of its injuries. After an examination it was determined that the moose had been shot by a poacher.

Natural Resources Minister Tim Olive has announced there will be a ban on open fires in Nova Scotia effective at noon on Friday, Aug. 16. The ban will remain in effect until further notice.

Wentworth Provincial Park Opens

Nine projects focusing on wildlife conservation have been approved for funding under the Habitat Conservation Fund by Natural Resources Minister Tim Olive.
