Petersfield Provincial Park

Overview

A popular historic park featuring ruins of an 18th century estate and an extensive system of walking trails.

Regionally significant cultural themes; significant horticultural plantings.  Nearby school uses it as a classroom for culture and plants.

Extensive system of walking trails, picnicking, cross-country skiing; Canada Day celebrations, municipal summer programs

Annual Visitation

Canada Day up to 10,000; few hundred per day summers; winter up to 100.  This park has activity from early morning to dark

Other Site Considerations

Close to an urban area with unauthorized activities, vandalism and dumping.

Off-season parking limited.

Rare plants are present but not identified for public study.

Susceptible to coastal processes (storm events with high tide surge or wind driven waves) that cause site erosion
