Soil and Water Sustainability Program 2020-2021

The Soil and Water Sustainability program assists farmers to mitigate on-farm environmental risk for soil and water as identified in their individual Environmental Farm Plans that accelerate environmental farm stewardship in Nova Scotia.


A farm that:

  • Has a current Farm Registration
  • Is at least 19 years of age
  • Reports farming income & expenses that show gross commodity income of at least $30,000

Deadline or important dates

Two Intake Periods:

Spring 2020
Program Opening:  March 15, 2020
Application Due:  May 15, 2020
Claim Deadline:  September 1, 2020

Fall 2020
Program Opening:  July 15, 2020
Application Due:  September 15, 2020
Claim Deadline:  February 1, 2021

Note: An extended intake period is being offered for Sustainable Agriculture Water Supply projects. Applications for these projects will be accepted until December 1, 2020

How to Apply

Complete and submit the Application Form to the Programs & Business Risk Management office.

Clients new to programs since 2018 must complete the Program Funding Registration (PFR) Form. Returning clients are to update their PFR Form as necessary
